3″ Fittonia

Fittonia (also known as the Nerve Plant, Mosaic Plant or Net Plant) are fairly easy to care for indoors and they can tolerate a range of lighting conditions. It has a reputation for being temperamental because it prefers high humidity and to be kept moist, and will let you know when it is thirsty by wilting. Originally from Peru, these beauties get their nicknames from their red, white, or pink veins that run through the leaves.

Water: High. Fittonia like to be kept moist. Water thoroughly when the top 25% of soil is dry. If you let your Fittonia dry out too much, it will let you know with limp leaves. Not to worry! After a thorough watering, the leaves should soon perk up. 

Sunlight: Bright indirect. Lower light can cause it to lose some of its vibrant colour and growth will slow. Sensitive to strong, direct sunlight and will quickly suffer from leaf burn.

Placement: north- or east-facing windows—or light through a filtered curtain (perhaps a few feet away from a sunny window). Never place this plant in direct sun.
