The variegated Monstera is climbing plant with large, deeply-lobed, dark green leaves with white variegation that can reach up to 3 feet in length. Monsteras are graceful, easygoing houseplants, commonly called the ‘Swiss cheese plant’ due the unique pattern of ridges and holes that develop as its leaves mature. These slits and holes in Monstera leaves are called fenestrations.
Placement: Your Monstera will grow in just about any space in your home. It will tolerate low light conditions, but thrives grows faster and becomes more dramatic in a bright spot. Avoid strong, direct sunlight though because it may burn the leaves.
Plant Parent Care Tip: Monsteras are climbing plants and love to ascend vertical surfaces. If you want to grow your Monstera tall instead of wide, use stakes or moss sticks to guide its growth upward.
Pets: Monsteras are toxic in excess to pets. They will cause stinging around the mouth and stomach upset if consumed consistently.
