Algaonema, known as Chinese Evergreens, are the perfect choice for less than ideal plant conditions or forgetful plant owners. These plants tolerate both moist and dry conditions, and will thrive with low light. These are vibrant and colourful plants, strikingly patterned leaves. The Chinese evergreen starts out small enough to fit on desks and tabletops, and will remain there for a while because it’s a slow-growing plant. However, over time it will get big and end up becoming a floor plant (and a good excuse for a bigger office!).

Water: Medium. Kept soil moist during the spring and summer, but not soggy. In the winter, water thoroughly, but allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Can tolerate drying out for periods.

Sun: Low to Bright Indirect. Will tolerate low light areas but the leaf spots and variegation will be less pronounced.

Placement: Aglaonemas are perfectly suited for a modern living room or office, dim bedroom, or cozy study. 

Plant Parent Care Tips:

• A common issue is ‘tipping’ when the tips of the leaves dry out and turn brown. This can be caused by a variety of issues like overwatering, too much fertilizer, etc. Investigate the conditions of your plant (ie. light, fertilizer, soil dryness) and try to correct to best conditions.
• You can easily propagate your Aglaonema by root division when you re-pot.

Pets: Aglaonema is moderately toxic to pets and humans.
