Staghorn ferns are stunning and an almost out of this world appearance! Mounted or in a basket is the ideal way to grow a staghorn fern, because they are epiphytic, growing in trees generally. There are dozens of species of staghorn ferns, and until recently, they were quite rare. If you can provide the right conditions, this plant is easy to care for and can be a stunning and unusual feature in your home.

Water: High to medium. The soil should be kept moist, but not soggy. If the soil dries and the leaves start to wilt, water thoroughly and discard any excess water that has dripped into the saucer.

Sunlight: Bright indirect to Medium. Will thrive in medium to bright indirect light.. It will not do well in low light situations.

Placement: Staghorn Ferns can be grown in a pot, in a wire basket as well as on a wire frame. Some people even mount them on wood blocks grown sideways on a wall! These epiphytes prefer to grow this way because it allows for maximum air circulation which is something they love. An east exposure in your home is great, as well as west or south but make sure your fern is at least 10′ away from a hot window.
